Malabar Black Pepper

The Legendary Black Gold of the Malabar Coast

For over three thousand years, ships from Babylon, Phoenicia, Rome, and Europe sailed to the Malabar coast in search of Black Pepper. It was so valuable it was used as currency and ransom. Our Malabar Pepper is sourced from heritage vines in Idukki, grown alongside coffee and vanilla, acquiring a distinct bold fruitiness.

Harvesting Process

Hand-picked berries from pepper vines, fermented, and sun-dried on bamboo mats for 3-4 days.

Culinary Profile

Key component in seasoning roasted meats, poultry, and fish.
Whole peppercorns infuse stocks, stews, pickling brines, and soups.
Crushed peppercorns provide the base for signature Kerala Pepper Chicken.
